I have lived in Louisiana for one year. It was an interesting year. I learned how to adjust to being a "stay at home mom". I had a successful pregnancy and now have a son. My husband and I got closer and we learned to rely more on each other. I went back to school. I made some really great friends. I got to hang out extensively in the French Quarter. I learned about a whole new culture.
But now it's time to go home. I never thought I'd miss Albuquerque quite so much. I miss the cultural openness and lack of racism. I miss green chile and Thai food. I miss rain that brings coolness instead of heat. I miss health food shops and bike paths. But really I mostly just miss the splendid New Mexico sky.
It won't be long now.
